WINGS WITH HOUSE OF T.O.K

Hello!

Happy Friday, Hope your day went well. I love Fridays because you get to dress down and the adrenalin for the weekend is on the high. Today I wore this lovely maxi dress that was sent to me by House of T.O.K an indigenous fashion label. The fabric was like satin/silk, which felt nice on the body.

I paired it with my sandals from Newlook, Green JustFab Bag and dropping earrings. I styled my hair in a bun as always with some nude makeup to go.

The dress was very pretty and the pattern is rather cheery. The butterflies somehow brightened my day.

Do enjoy the rest of the photos, I enjoyed taking them ^.^

OOTD: PURPLE

IMG_0025Hello!

Happy Sunday, Hope your day was great? My weekend was mostly spent indoors. I took out my weave and gave my hair some good T.L.C. I washed, deep conditioned and put it up in a bun as always.

My outfit today was to church, the dress is an old one I made earlier this year for my friend Mimi’s Wedding (Find out about the fabric, cost and Style details HERE).

I have this bad habit of forgetting I have lots of gowns from weddings and other Aso-ebi oriented events. I decided to bring this one out, and it felt like I had never worn it before.

I paired it with silver accessories; earrings, brooch and a purse.

I wear heels almost every Sunday but today was an exception. I just couldn’t be bothered. I wore my silver slippers instead and it still looked great.

My lovely friend Wura took these photos……IMG_0006 Read More

8 THINGS I DO BEFORE 8AM

DSC_1532I love early hours of the morning, so much quiet and tranquility. I’m most productive late into the night and very early in the morning. I wake up everyday at 5:40am, though sometimes I sleep back if I don’t have anything major planned for the day especially weekends.

Today I’d be sharing with you 8 things I do before 8am. This is not a rigid itinerary but 8 out of 10 times I’m probably doing these.

1. Truthfully, The first thing I do when I wake up is switch off my alarm, then curl up in a bean form and sigh silently about having to get to the day.
DSC_1497

2. I shut my eyes and pray. After a while I open the bible app on my phone and do my devotional + I write notes on what I learnt …

DSC_1503

3. I open my laptop, play some worship music while I check & reply mails. During this time I also review blog comments, and close browsers from last night.DSC_1506

DSC_15134. I  Write my to do list for the day. This is almost a necessity for me to have a productive day. I’ve told you guys HERE I love journalling, its such a part of me that I don’t think would ever go away. Around this time of the morning I write down plans or ideas that may have brewed a day before.

5. Reply messages, check my social media, YouTube, peruse Instagram and upload a post if need be.DSC_1498.jpg

6. Pick an outfit & Pack my hand bag for the day. I love doing this because I’m that type of person that changes her bag to her outfit. So I need to transfer everything from a day before into a new hand bag, add items and stuff the other one with newspaper for storage.DSC_1527DSC_1495.jpg

7. Bath rites: Apply my morning face masks, lip scrub. Head to the bathroom, put on the water heater, brush then shower.DSC_1520

8. This depends on my itinerary for the day, most times if I’m feeling energetic I use this time to empty my bin, wash my car or just dress up. But If I’m working from home I head downstairs to make a quick breakfast before I get busy for the day.

And that’s all! I’m quite a detailed person so when it comes to time, notes, to-do lists, routines e.t.c I’m queen.

These are habits that I’ve found to make me more effective in my daily activities.

So I want to know, what do you do after you wake up? Be sure to drop a comment!

xoxo

REVIEW: KONJAC FACE SPONGE

IMG_5572I bought this Facial sponge from the Ajali store launch. I sincerely had never heard of a Konjac sponge till I saw it on the store’s Instagram page. I decided to do my research on what it was.

A konjac sponge is a soft cleansing sponge for the face or body . It’s made of 100% organic materials including minerals, green tea and vegetable fibre. The sponge acts as a gentle exfoliator, rubbing off dead skin cells in the most delicate manner, though the irony is that the sponge comes really hard at first….almost like a pumice stone. But when you soak it in water it softens up.

un-used form

The instructions on the pack says to use with or without a cleanser, but I’m one of those people who without a soapy-lather I don’t feel squeaky clean. I decided to use mine with a face wash. The product claims to take off makeup well but I haven’t tried that. I often clean my face with wipes before I step into the shower.

When I used this sponge I sincerely loved the way it rubbed against my skin. Very gentle and Soft. I went in circular motions rinsing off with warm water. When done, I squeezed out the water and hung it to dry for my next use.IMG_5598

CONS:

The two intertwined cons/negatives about this product is the price and the shelf life. The sponge is anti-bacterial but not self-cleansing so you’re advised to replace it after a month.

I bought this sponge for about N2,000(BUY HERE) which to me is quite high knowing that it would be a recurring expense. So I’m not sure if I can commit to buying this every month. However, by the end of December If the results are amazing and incomparable to my daily exfoliators, it would become a staple in my bath regimen.

Dry state after use. It remains soft.

So far, I’m happy about this purchase because I’d been silently complaining about my existing exfoliating facial brush. It was getting a bit to harsh for me.

I hope my review was detailed and would help you in making a decision on your purchase.

Do let me know what you think about a Konjac sponge. Would love to hear from you.

XOXO

MEETING WITH HANS & RENE

DSC_1296Hello!

So yesterday was a busy day, I spent half my day in traffic(one more reason I’d like to move out of Lagos lol)….. I went out for a meeting and the person I was to meet with suggested Hans and Rene as a good place to discuss. The meeting was productive and we ordered some Gelato (ice cream to me) and pastry.

I wasn’t going to review this because it wasn’t remunerated neither did they reach out to me (not yet though LOL) but I’m a sucker for good service. The staff was so pleasant and patient. I took forever to decide which flavour I wanted but she just stood there smiling.

She(the attendant) even suggested the flavours that I would like and was right. I ended up buying two flavours. I wish I took photos of the interior to show you how tastefully minimalist it was decorated. I forgot I had my camera  in my trunk till I was about to leave.

Outdoor view

The ice cream was uber sweet and two scoops were just adequate. I had a “Cruffin and croissant” also, which were nicely moist and fresh. The only thing not so exciting about this place is the price.

To be fair it’s rather pricy. A scoop is like N750 if I remember correctly. And the two pastries cost N1,250. But if you factor in location, quality overhead charges running a business in Nigeria e.t.c.. it makes sense.

IMG_5314

Gelato, Cruffin & Croissant (shot taken with my phone)

I’m someone who doesn’t mind paying for quality and excellent service. It’s located in V.I inside Radisson blu on Ozumba Mbadiwe.

I spent about three hours there and the ambience was so warm and welcoming. Someone ordered for a coffee and the smell was just perfect.

I wore this dress I’ve had since forever. It’s from Miss selfridges, I matched it with my white purse and favorite mules from Top shop.

I was a bit bloated after eating so it was a struggle taking these photos LOL. Happy they came out decent.

Do tell me what you think, have you ever been to Hans and Rene? How was your experience …..

I’d love to hear from you, do drop a comment about anything on your mind.
