7 COCONUT OIL USES OTHER THAN HAIR

Hello! This post is long over due, I love coconut oil but not so much for my hair. This oil is great for conditioning and reducing dandruff  when used with rosemary/peppermint oil but that’s it. It doesn’t stimulate blood flow on its own like other oils, Neither does it encourage cell regrowth so it DOES […]

WEEKEND ROUND UP + O.O.T.D

IMG_1594Hello all!

Hope your weekend went well? Mine was rather eventful. I went to church, attended a wedding and also went out with a friend to Yellow Chilli. I finally had the ‘almighty’ Sea food Okra and pounded yam(Not poundo) from there. Before I came to Nigeria the hype has been so much about that particular meal…so when Taiwo invited me out I was excited to give it a try. The food was good and the service was Excellent. Our server ‘Nerngyu’ was so polite and prompt with our orders. I liked the ambience, the people and the food was great. I got full rather quickly..However the bathroom didn’t do it for me……it was a bit untidy and dark.IMG_1475

Moving on to saturday, I attended a friend’s wedding…….she invited me on short notice and having cargoed all my boxes(still waiting on them) I didn’t have what to wear. I had to buy a new dress. I went to a boutique in Ikota shopping complex and in like 5minutes I found a dress. The sales girl made me wear the dress before telling me the price, I should have refused…… upon trying the dress it fit like a glove so I had to buy it regardless of the price….But it wasn’t too bad…. I attended the wedding with my friends Obum and Mayowa. It was fun and I caught up with lots of people from my Alumni….IMG_6224FullSizeRenderIMG_7451

IMG_8161Today I had a meeting and also had to do some work for my dad at the office….Here’s what I wore. I know its been a while I put up an Outfit post. Please bear with me………as soon as I sort out my luggage I’d resume fashion blogging and videos..

JUST FOOD: FEAST

DSC_0720Hello!

Today my brother, a friend and I went to a buffet restaurant to have dinner. Tope is leaving back to school in a few days so I thought to take him out…… I’d miss him *sobs*. I love food and dining out is one of the ways to my heart…

I try to eat out at least once a week and also a new place every time. This time I went to this buffet place my friend introduced me to, it’s called ‘FEAST’. The food was good, the staff was courteous and ambience was rather warm and cosy. I filled my self well, from starters to dessert. I had crabs, shrimps, ice cream, Singapore fried rice, egg fried rice, beef, chicken in black bean sauce, and fruits to step down lol…Tope has spaghetti withlots of dessert. It was worth every penny spent. I rate the overall experience 9/10. All you can eat including drinks costs an estimate of £50 for 3 people, which I think is OK. DSC_0714DSC_0715

T.G.I.F: STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI COCKTAIL

IMG_7661 copyHello,
So it’s the weekend and I was feeling a bit ‘groovy’ earlier lol…I decided to make a home-made cocktail since I had all the ingredients. I’m not really a drinker but with cocktails I make an exception. My favorite cocktail after a Piña Colada is a Daiquiri. So I made a strawberry one and filmed the tutorial. It’s simple and easy, plus you can try it this festive season for your friends if you’re having a house party….
Ingredients:
1. Fresh Lime Juice
2. Sugar Syrup (made with water and sugar on a boil)
3. Strawberry preserve/ fresh strawberries
4. Crushed Ice
5. 2-4 shots of White Rum
TOOLS: A cocktail shaker, knife, chopping board and wide rim glass.
DO WATCH AND SHARE! (It’s a minute short)

How to:

  1. Fill your shaker with lime juice, followed with sugar syrup. Mix well
  2. Pour in your shots of Rum, and 3 chopped Strawberries OR a full spoon of strawberry preserve.
  3. Shake vigorously for 25 seconds until cold.
  4. Strain into a glass and garnish with a strawberry/lime wheel.

And that’s it!

AKARA ! (PICTORIAL)

DSC_0070

Hello!

Hope your weekend went awesome! Mine was quite eventful. I woke up on Saturday morning craving Akara i.e Bean cake. You all know my love for pap i.e Ogi, and I think there is nothing more satisfying than Pap with any bean delicacy; Ranging from moi-moi, palm oil beans or bean cake. So I decided to go with the latter. The cooking is quite easy, but the preparation process is the main task. You have to soak the beans for a minimum of 4hours then peel off the brown part/skin, before you blend and fry. I would make a video later this week on it for my YouTube community, but a lot of blog readers in Nigeria complain about videos and the internet struggle there, so here is a step by step pictorial for you lovelies! Do enjoy!

FOODIE: CHINESE EGG FRIED RICE

IMG_7960Hello!

So its Friday night and I decided to stay home and cook a meal! A fast one as usual. Which is Egg Fried Rice. This meal is cooked with already boiled rice but cold, so you cook the rice about a day before and store in the fridge. “The golden rule of stir-frying rice successfully is to always make sure the cooked rice is absolutely cold”. If you try and make it with freshly cooked rice, “it goes all sticky”. This makes sense because freshly cooked rice is actually moist, which is not ideal for this kind of stir fry technique.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYCwmdNrbXg&w=640&h=360%5D

INGREDIENTS

Vegetables|Onions|Oil|Eggs|Cold Rice|Salt|Soy Sauce

1. Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan on high heat until smoking, then add the vegetables.

2. When well steamed, Add the Rice, stir till well blended.

3. Add eggs then stir until its absorbed into the rice, then continue to stir-fry for a couple of minutes until some of the rice has just begun to caramelise and toast.

3. Add soy sauce, black pepper and salt to taste.

I served mine with diced plantain and fried chicken. How would you have yours? and what are you doing this Friday night?? do let me know, I care 🙂
