2015 FASHION RECAP: 24 LOOKS I WORE
Posted on March 4, 2016 1 Comment
The first time I did a fashion recap was in 2015, showing my 2014 favorite looks see HERE. I like the idea of compiling all blogged looks during the year into one collage. It’s shows me what my style really is regardless of what I think.
In 2014 I did a lot of colour, while in 2015 I wore mostly earth tones and some pop of colour. I also realised that blue and yellow are colours I should embrace more….
See my 2014 & 2015 fashion recap below:
2015 FASHION RECAP
All the outfits in both photo sets were blogged, and I shared details on where to purchase most items worn.
I’m not sure I would have time this year to do lots of fashion posts, but I would definitely try. The last time I did a poll asking readers why they visit my blog, majority voted faith, style and Hair.
I find that encouraging because those are three areas I’m sure I can be consistent with, when it comes to content.
I’m hoping my style this year would be more vibrant. So Let’s see how that goes….^.^
Hope your day is going well,
So excited it’s Friday, I’m aiming for an activity filled weekend! Would blog some parts of it too.
Enjoy the weekend!

ACADEMICS WITH WUNMI: THE GOD FACTOR
Posted on March 4, 2016 Leave a Comment

Hello there!
Trust we are all basking in newness of 2016. I thank God for you all, may God crown our efforts with good success.
Seeking God in all endeavour is the most important thing. Malachi 3:18 says “and you will see the difference between those who serve me and those who do not”.
Its’s another school term or semester so what? Maybe yours is a professional exam, don’t tune off just yet because this right here is for you (yes you)!
I crave your indulgence not to read this post as cliché but rather with open minds as I share one of the many ‘God factor encounter’ I have had in my academic journey.
Paul said “I am what I am by the grace of God”. This means a lot to me. One of which is, the result of my efforts is determined by God.
Mathematically speaking, I am saying:
(Hardwork + smartwork) – God = Futility ≥Failure ≥Frustration Read More
DEAR READER, I LOVE YOU
Posted on March 3, 2016 8 Comments

Hello!
How are you all doing, I hope you’re doing well. Today I just wanted to come to my blog and tell you how much I love you.
I find blogging so therapeutic. When I’m happy I blog, When I’m stressed I blog. I love how everything gives me post ideas . Most times after a busy day I just come to my laptop and stare, before I know it I’m typing. My most engaging posts are usually the spontaneous ones.
I really do not share in-depth personal details about myself here, I try to keep everything at surface level, except when I’m discussing topics like faith and life lessons where transparency is important, but regardless I’m still able to share bits and pieces of my life and make it interesting enough for you to read.
I started blogging at a point in my life where I needed an avenue to showcase the woman I was becoming. I’m not a dancer or an artist but I consider myself a well spring of ideas. I’ve been blogging for over four years but more intentionally in the past two years. During this time I have learned so much, grown so much, and I have reached so much.
It’s amazing how a computer, internet and a willing mind can influence the lives of others… I really don’t take this opportunity for granted. Anytime I get a notification for a new subscriber or follower I still have the same feeling every single time and it’s the feeling of gratitude.
I haven’t ‘arrived‘, I haven’t been featured on Forbes, I haven’t made millions from blogging, But by God’s special grace this platform has touched lives. I get fantastic encouraging emails from people in different parts of the world, some mails are so personal I don’t even know how to reply them, I literally have to ask the holy spirit to help me in responding. Many of you don’t know me personally but you trust me with your time. You check my blog, you send me mails, and some even gifts.
I review products and you buy them, I suggest tips and you follow them. It’s really humbling. I sincerely don’t believe in impact-less Fame, I believe in reaching and teaching.
Yesterday, I went to the Palms mall Lekki to have lunch with a friend, and I got stopped by about 3 different people who came to say they read my blog and follow me on YouTube. I was so shy I just smiled and gave them hugs. I’m far from a celebrity, but I’m reaching for greatness and this blog has been oh so developmental and instrumental.
A huge hug and thank you to everyone who reads my blog, follows my youtube, instagram and tells a friend about this young Kingdom woman.
I love you and I pray God blesses you in all your ways..
Lots of love

WIG 101: REASONS TO INVEST IN A GOOD WIG + TIPS!
Posted on February 26, 2016 12 Comments

Hair in image above on me by @RaefranhairUK
Hello!
If you follow my blog you’d know I’m a proud wiggie! I have about 7 wigs. I’ve been wearing wigs even before it became a trend. I have a mum who is a wig lover so I guess I learnt that from her. About 3 years ago when I first went natural it was difficult for me to be spontaneous with hair-dos. I felt I was limited to my short coils. It wasn’t long after that I made my first wig. I did it myself, it was wonky but I found a way to rock it regardless.
There is a myth that wigs are for old women and it ages you, so first let me debunk that ^.^ Anything would age you if you don’t find a flattering version of it, from clothes to hair. The key to wearing wigs is to find styles, lengths and colors that suit your complexion and face shape.
For instance my face is oval, hence shoulder length and Layered long hair looks great on me. So I know to invest in bobs/curly hair and long layered styles.
SO WHY WIGS?
- Durability & Convenience: Sew-ins take time to install and don’t last long, with wigs you can wear a style for a whole year, by simply washing/airing the wig occasionally. Its easy to pop on and pop off. After a long day out I just want a shower without scrunching up weaves under hair nets and shower caps.
- Hygiene: When I have sew-ins on I can’t wash my scalp how I like. More so Nigeria is a humid country, so having to keep a style in for weeks without washing my hair is the perfect recipe for scalp build up, smell and dandruff. Plus I can properly take care of my natural hair whilst wearing wigs. They are great for protective styling.
- Cost effective: Having a wig made costs between N8,000-N15,000 in most places, whereas fixing a one time sew-in costs between N2,000-N10,000 depending on the salon/style. It’s better to put your extensions on a cap/wig at a one off price with room for multiple uses, rather than spending monthly on a new hair-do.
- Spontaneous option: If you’re like me that quickly gets bored with a style, wigs are your best friend. You can change your look every week without breaking the bank.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR WIG:
- Air out them daily: After each day, find a place to air dry them to prevent scalp oils/sweat from turning it into a bacteria nest.
- Apply little or no product unless really neccesary.
- Be careful with styling tools, because the more you comb/blow dry the looser the thread gets(i.e thread used to sew down your extensions on the wig cap).
- Wash your wigs at least once a month.
HOW TO WASH YOUR WIG
- Before washing, gently brush the wig thoroughly with a brush. For wigs with tight curls, do not brush, use fingers/Wide tooth comb to gently detangle.
- Use a mild shampoo e.g baby shampoo/sulphate free one. In a sink or bowl, add a small amount of shampoo to cold water. Turn wig inside out and immerse. Gently swirl and pull out dirt with a swipe motion to remove any residue.
- Change water, add another amount of shampoo and let soak for approximately 5 minutes.
- Rinse the wig gently in cold water until all of the shampoo is removed.
- Apply a generous amount of conditioner and lukewarm water through the wig and leave on for 20-30 minutes to allow the product penetrate the hair.
- Rinse the wig gently in cold water until all of the conditioner is removed.
- Wrap the wig in a towel and gently pat out excess water.
- Place clean wig on a wig stand or dry line and allow it to air dry naturally and thoroughly before brushing or combing.
RESOURCES ON MAKING/BUYING GOOD WIGS: There are two options, either you buy a ready made wig or you buy bundles and make it yourself. I prefer the later because of density, attention to detail and cost. I make my wigs at my local stylist or @Aliceandesther on Instagram. For quality weaves and closures I trust @RaefranHairUK (hands down the best natural looking closures + they ship to Nigeria in about a week) Use code AF2016 for free shipping to Nigeria and £10 off your total purchase.
POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN SHOPPING:
- Good density: scanty wigs are never ideal, go for 300grams hair and above.
- Closure: Ensure your closure is as natural as possible, little tweezing, get a flesh toned, bleached knots lace closure with a realistic parting.
- Ensure the hooks/elastic bands are well fitted but not tight, we don’t want sparse edges or traction alopecia.
- Stitching: Ensure your stylist makes your wig with quality thread and firm stitching, we want our wigs to last a long time.
And thats all!
Feel free to ask questions and share your thoughts below! I’d absolutely love to hear from you.
xoxo

WHY MILK OF MAGNESIA IS BAD AS A PRIMER
Posted on February 18, 2016 23 Comments
Hello!
So like everyone else I jumped on the milk of magnesia as a primer bandwagon a while ago. I rarely wear primers but when I do, I use the famous Infamous milk of magnesia. I found out about this D.I.Y method on YouTube and it seemed to work, so I was like why not? Its affordable and keeps my makeup in place.
Only recently I noticed my skin had started becoming rough. I couldn’t pinpoint what was changing the texture so I just decided to stay clear makeup. In about a week my regular skin texture had returned, so I knew something must have triggered it. The only new thing I was using was M.O.M. I was using it often so I decided to do a full research. You won’t believe what I found out.
I would try to simplify all the scientific gibberish, and just speak in lay man terms. Read More
